Nexus Global Card is exclusive to foreigners living in Japan. We offer support in multiple languages to help your application go smoothly. Also, this is a new type of card where the deposit is equal to your credit limit.

How to make a deposit and its refunding process

There is a transfer payment slip enclosed with the card, you can use it to make the security deposit.
The deposit will be returned to your bank account by a predetermined method when the Nexus Global Card is closed due to reasons such as returning to your country.

This is the money that we keep as collateral to supplement the customer’s credit. A security deposit is not available for payment. The amount used is paid the following month and must be paid with something other than the deposit. In addition, the amount of deposit and the amount of credit available on the card will be the same.

What is the difference between Nexus Global Card and a prepaid/Debit card?

▪ Nexus Global Card is a credit card.
The payment made with Nexus Global Card within a set limit will be withdrawn from your bank account on the 6th of every month. (You cannot use the deposit as payment.) Revolving payment service is available for expensive shopping. You can also pay your utility bills, mobile phone bills, insurance and Internet fees through your Nexus Global Card.
*Depending on the usage environment, some of the services may not be available.▪ A prepaid card allows you to spend the money that you have already loaded onto the card and the card can be reloaded with more money at any time.
▪ A Debit card allows you to spend the money that you have in your bank account. You need to add funds if necessary to increase the balance in your bank account.

What documents are required to apply?

These are the two documents required upon application: Residence Card (including special permanent resident certificate) and Certificate of Residence (which is issued within three months).
※Permanent residents are not required to submit a Certificate of Residence.

You must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application with and a stable flow of income to apply for the card. Your custodial parent will need to cosign for you if you are under 20 years of age.

When will the card be delivered?

If you are approved after a specific review process, we will send the card in about two weeks with recipient validation mail support or by registered post (signed by the addressee only).
For identification purposes, you will be asked to present your Residence Card upon receiving the card.

The address on my ID differs from that in the application form, what should I do?

Please submit a Notification of address change at the city hall of your residence before applying for the card.
